SDX Energy To Commence South Disouq Exploration Drilling In February 2017

Feb-2017: SDX Energy announced that it had hired Aberdeen-based Zenith Energy to provide technical support to drill the South Disouq prospect in Egypt. SDX Energy has also signed a letter of intent with rig contractor Sino Tharwa for the supply of its Sino-Tharwa 6 drilling rig, due to arrive on site in late February 2017 to spud an exploration well in South Disouq. The company will also upgrade its existing Medesa production facility in Egypt.

Egypt To Start Exporting Gas by 2019

Feb-2017: Egypt plans to be self sufficient in gas by 2019. It will import 43 to 45 cargoes of liquefied natural gas from Oman, Russia’s Rosneft, and France’s Engie between March and December 2017, and pay for the cargoes over six months. Rosneft has agreed to buy 35% equity in the Shorouk concession from Eni, which will make it a joint venture partner in the Zohr gas field in the Mediterranean Sea. Natural gas export is expected to commence in 2019.

GL Africa Energy Awarded Contract to Build 250 MW Gas Plant in Mozambique

GL Africa Energy has been awarded a 375 MMUSD tender to build and operate a 250 megawatt (MW) gas-fired power plant in north eastern Mozambique. GL Africa Energy will build the power plant in Nakala District and utilise gas from the Rovuma basin to generate electricity.

OMV Expects 10 000 STB/D Average Oil Production From Libya Assets in 2017

Feb-2017: OMV expects its 2017 oil output in Libya to reach an average of 10 000 stb/d, up from 3 000 stb/d in 4Q 2016, due to a ramp-up of the Sirte and Sharara oil fields. Further improvement in security could increase production to 50 000 stb/d. OMV has also increased its equity stake in four exploration and production-sharing agreements in the Sirte Basin, which it owns with the Libyan National Oil Corporation.

Sound Energy Estimates 9-31 TSCF Of Gas Initially In Place In Morocco Assets

Feb-2017: Sound Energy PLC has estimated an exploration potential of 17 TSCF of gas initially in place (GIIP) volume across the Tendrara and Meridja permit areas in Morocco. The GIIP volume estimate ranges from 9 to 31 TSCF, and is based on the mapping of the inventory of discoveries, exploration prospects, and leads.

Zambia Cancels Five Petroleum Exploration Licences

Feb-2017: Zambia has revoked five petroleum exploration licences after the companies failed to comply with the licence conditions.
